Good afternoon everybody and happy friday!
Before you read todays post, you should check out the previous posts in this mini series!
Today, I am going to show you an exercise that I did back in March & I think it is a great starting point for those who may feel like they don’t quite know where they are going yet.
Everything is created twice
Everything is this life is created twice. First, in the brain and secondly in real life. Football players will imagine themselves scoring penalties before it actually happens. Fighters will dream of them stood holding a world championship and architects can see the most amazing structures before they are built.
You will do this all of the time without even realising it.
If we can imagine it and curate an imagine in our heads, there is no reason why this cannot manifest itself in the physical world.
The theory
I did this exercise as part of a programme designed by Action Coach for young entrepreneurs. If you are interested in starting a business and you are under the age of 22, this course is absolutely brilliant and is completely free!
For those of you who studied A Level Psychology, you will have learnt about Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. If you remember, Maslow’s theory was that the highest stage of human motivation was ‘Self Actualisation’ - the desire to be the best that one can be.
Create the image
You can never live your life to the fullest if you haven’t taken the time to imagine what that life would look like. Remember, everything is created twice so we must imagine it before it can happen.
Imagine what your life would look like if you had everything you wanted.
Do not hold back on anything and do not listen to the logical, rational side of your brain. Be as brash and ambitious as your mind can possibly be! Think about every single aspect of your life in real detail.
Get it on to paper
To begin with, you are going to need an A4 piece of paper and a pen to do this. I want you to write down every single thing that you have just imagined in a great level of detail. You must write it in bullet points and you also must write them done as if you are already living this life.
For example, ‘I am living in … in my house overlooking the …’
Let your pen flow, do not hesitate and do not hold anything back. Remember, you are imagining the most ambitious and maximised lifestyle you could possibly wish for. Don’t stop writing until you cannot think of anything else you could possibly want in this self actualised life. Go into incredible detail, think about all of the senses.
That is what you need to aim for
What is the point living life if you aren’t aiming for the best possible outcome? Now, you know exactly what that life is. Not only have you imagined it, but you have created the vision and written it down on paper.
Now, you have actually have something to aim for! It is right there on that piece of paper! I guarantee you that everything on there is achievable.
Seriously.
So, if you had no idea where you wanted to go and have no idea what to aim for, now you have something to aim at!
Tomorrow, I am going to show you how you can start working your way there.
