Good afternoon everybody! I hope you are all having a great start to the week.
Today, I have decided that it is necessary for me to share my enthusiasm for podcasts with you al.
If you are already a podcast lover, I am always open to new suggestions so let me know which ones you listen to and if there are any particular episodes you think I would enjoy! :)
More than just an audio file
The most popular podcasts in the world are more like shows and they actually pull significantly higher numbers than evening TV shows do. Some of the production, planning and capital that people put into their podcasts is phenomenal.
If you are familiar with ‘Diary of a CEO’, hosted by Dragon’s Den star Steven Bartlett, you will know that every single one of his episodes has the same backdrop.
In his podcast with James Nestor, he spoke about himself as if he was in America and I thought ‘hang on a minute, the set is in London, wtf is Steven on about?’.
When he is speaking to guests who aren’t based in the UK, he flies his himself, his entire crew and all of their equipment over to wherever they need to be.
Then, they bring in another team to build the exact replica set wherever they are, so it is exactly identical to the original one in London. I thought I loved a good bit of continuity, but that is some serious commitment.
If you want to see how cool it is, take a look.
Take advantage
On the same DOAC video, Steven said that the trip had cost a total of around £120,000 for the entire process.
They filmed 7 podcasts. That’s ≈ £17,142.85 per podcast and now I understand why he puts 2 non-skippable adverts on every 5 minutes (gotta secure the AdSense revenue)!
Anyway, there are people out there spending that amount of money just so we can listen to some of the greatest thinkers and experts in their field. We get it all for free on YouTube, Spotify & Apple Podcasts.
The greatest episode of all time (IMO)
If you:
want to take that big risk
want to eradicate the barriers you feel are holding you back
want to listen to one of the smartest dudes on the planet for 3 hours spit straight fire about life
You absoultely have to listen to this.
Chris Williamson & Alex Hormozi's Second Episode.
In fact, I want to go back on my statement.
You should watch / listen to it anyway. No matter what situation you are in if you watch the full thing, I can guarantee that you will have learnt so much.
For context, Alex is like a wham Buddha who just decided to be a 9 figure entrepreneur and wear crocs. Such a cool guy.
I have watched it two and a half times and I even got my Mum to watch it. As you can see, she loved it too!
My favourite podcasts
Personally, I like podcast where I am interested in the guest, host or subject. However, there are some great podcasts out there with the sole purpose of entertainment and just fucking about and recording it.
Some of them are great too!
In no particular order, here are the ones I frequently tune in to:
Diary Of A CEO
Modern Wisdom
PBD Podcast
The Joe Rogan Experience
Huberman Lab
Lex Fridman Podcast
Between these, I get entertainment, value and knowledge in lots of different areas.
See what works for you
They are just my suggestions as I can only speak for myself.
If you want to get smarter and learn more, in such an easy way, don’t put the sae playlist on in the car again and again and again.
Slap on a pod, could be about anything. It might just change your life.
One day, I would love to host a podcast.
Maybe that day might not even be that far away!
That’s all from me enjoy the rest of your monday :)
