The Reality Of Your Life Is Always Now
I am currently writing to you from sunny Tenerife!
I hope the weather in the UK isn't too bad for you all ;)
This week, I wanted to talk about why it's important to be more present and spend less time looking back at the past and ahead to the future.
I saw a clip from Sam Harris speech the other day that got me thinking...
"The reality of your life is always now. The past is a memory arising in the present and the future is also an anticipated thought arising now. What we truly have is this moment." - Sam Harris
As we get older, we learn more things and live through new experiences, it can be easy to think back to the past or ahead to the future.
You might feel pensive about the past, looking back on it with fond memories and sometimes wishing you could go back and experience it again or change things.
You may be ambitious and always look ahead to the future, at what life is going to be like once you do X, Y & Z.
However, a former version of you will have spent time thinking about exactly where you are now...
And a future version of you will look back with a smile on the period of your life that you are going through now.
So, the best way to really spend your time is in the present moment because you satisfy past you and future you.
Reflection and vision can be powerful tools but even though we are young, our time on this planet is finite.
You will never be this age, in this moment, with these people, in this place EVER AGAIN.
And that can be a scary thought.
Which is exactly why you should live in the present.
Enjoy your day-to-day reality and embrace the journey that you are on, no matter what you are doing.
Strike a balance between enjoying life now and building a future for you later.
Progress With Us Podcast
Last night, we released the first episode of Progress With Us where we aren't interviewing a guest!
It's just us, reflecting on our journey so far and telling you guys the story of how Progressus Network went from from a telegram group chat to (one day) one of the biggest podcasts in the world!
We had a lot of fun filming this and I think it's a testament to us and where we are now compared to when we started.
We went from being terrified to post an episode with great guests to not thinking twice about doing a duo one.
Very proud.
You can watch the full episode on YouTube here.
Lessons From This Week
Violent Action
I had one of the busiest weeks since going self-employed this week and for all of the productivity techniques and planning I use, sometimes the answer is violent action. 15-hour days, quick gym sessions and just getting the damn work done.
Are You Working As Well As You Think You Are?
Following up on the last point, I now know that I have the potential to generate that much output with my time. Previously, I thought I was working pretty hard but I set a new standard for myself this week that I now know is achievable. It made me question how hard I was REALLY working.
Things Are Starting To Happen
I have had a few messages this week from people who have let me know how much the podcast and personal videos are helping them to think about their personal circumstances. I'm so grateful and proud that not only are people watching them, but we have started to make an impact at a small scale. Love you guys. Long may it continue.
Thanks for reading guys,
Charlie @ Progressus Network x
P.S. We have a MASSIVE project for Progressus Network coming in Q2. Eyes peeled.
