Sharpen Your Personal Trident
“If you commit to nothing, you will be distracted by everything”
This message seems more applicable than ever right now.
We have so many opportunities and distractions thrown in front of us on a regular basis that it can be hard to narrow down your commitments.
A lot of the time, we struggle to choose a pursuit because we have so many options and we do not know which to pick.
However, three areas that always have and always will hold significant importance are:
Brain
Body
Skills
Develop Your Mind
Think about how many people exercise frequently in order to take care of their physical health. However, how many people take the time to develop their mindset? After all, your mind controls EVERYTHING that you do, so would it not make sense to take some time every day to work on it?
You could do this by reading interesting books, writing about something you are interested in or practising mindfulness through meditation. Once you begin to understand the importance of your mindset, the path to where you want to be becomes a lot clearer.
Take Care Of Your Body
Choose a form of exercise that you enjoy and that you can stick to over a long period of time. This could take so many different forms such as weight training, strength training, football, martial arts, tennis, running or even just a daily walk!
Combine this with a diet that is conducive to your goals and one that works best for you given your lifestyle. The benefits of exercise go far beyond just physical appearance. You will notice increases in cognitive function, fitness and overall wellbeing.
Go All In On Something
Work every single day at your chosen pursuit. This could be your university degree, business or job. Ideally, this would be something that gives you real purpose and meaning.
Get better at the thing you have chosen by developing existing skills or learning new skills that will make you valuable to an employer or will allow you to sell your expertise to others. Work has been given a negative connotation because most people never consider what they ACTUALLY want to do.
Stick At It
“Consistency won’t guarantee that you succeed, but being inconsistent will guarantee that you won’t succeed”
If you are consistent and have the right habits to progress in these three non-negotiable areas every single day, it’s going to be hard for you to fail.
