An Example Of Comfort Zone Killing Action
Hello everybody,
Think about this.
If you were to travel one mile or less, you would walk. If you were to travel two miles, you would drive. Despite needing to go further, you would actual travel two miles quicker than you would travel one mile.
Almost all of the common reasons people feel unfulfilled, unsatisfied or lack meaning fall within this Region Beta Paradox.
Take some of these for example.
You don’t enjoy your job or studies but it’s just bearable enough that you continue to show up.
You are in a relationship that you know isn’t good for you but you stay because you don’t have the courage to say whats really on your mind.
You want to start exercising and dieting but you come up with all of the reasons why now isn’t the time to start.
This is a very dangerous place to be. If you are not careful, you will remain stuck in Region beta and experience regret that you didn’t change when circumstances were easier.
You’d be better off if your situation was worse
If things actually got worse, it would force you to do something about it. Rather than just walking the mile, you drive and end up getting to where you want to be faster.
This is the thinking that will leave you stuck in Region Beta for years and years and years.
In the end, your only regret would be not taking action sooner.
Change Out Of Inspiration, Not Desperation
This is some great advice that my mentor gave me.
You have the chance today to break out of your Region Beta by taking action out of inspiration. Later down the line, you may not have this luxury.
Smokers will stop smoking when they get a terrible diagnosis, alcoholics will stop drinking when they start losing friends and family and drug users will stop their usage when they nearly overdose.
They will be forced to change out of desperation, when they could have stopped the problem at it’s roots a long time ago.
So, why not change for the better on your own terms, rather than waiting for things to get so bad that you have no other choice?
