Three Key Takeaways From Episode 1
The Morely Group came on as our first guests and dropped a ton of valuable knowledge for any aspiring entrepreneur. In this edition of the Progressus Newsletter, we are going to look back at some of the best moments from Episode 1.
Number 1 - Get Your Goals Together First
Jack advised that before you begin any new venture, it is important that you create a sense of direction. Work out who you want to be mentally, physically and spiritually. This is not just for aspiring entrepreneurs, this is something everybody should be doing, regardless of the pursuit at hand.
Goal setting is not a new practise, but it is a timeless philosophy and a fundamental prerequisite to success of any kind. Once you have your goals defined, you give yourself something to aim for. A vision created by you, for you.
Remember, a people who comments to nothing will be distracted by everything.
Number 2 - The Importance Of Providing Value
All three of the boys made points that support this. This concept is applicable far beyond entrepreneurship and is an important rule for life.
Value can present itself in multiple different forms. Being a good friend can add value, being a good son or daughter can add value, being a good partner can add value, having high demand skills can add value, being reliable can add value and the list goes on.
If you want to succeed in entrepreneurship or in the market, don’t be afraid of doing things for free. Expect nothing in return because although the rewards may not be immediate, in the long term the relationships you build will pay you ten fold.
To live a life of meaning and fulfilment, try to add value to as many different people as you can.
Number 3 - The Compound Effect
If you go to the gym once, you aren’t going to see a difference. If you have one productive day at work, you may not see a difference. If you invest 20% of one weeks wage, you probably won’t see a different.
However, when you maintain consistency over long periods of time eventually your hard work will start to pay off.
Jack, Bailey & Lynden all started their first businesses in their early teenage years while they were still in school. It has taken them the best part of a decade to build and get to where they are now.
If Bailey had have given up after he had seen shit on those shoes, do you think he would be where he is now?
