If you see anything that takes your fancy, you can get it as a free audiobook too.
Anyway, I have been thinking a lot this week about the simple things.
"Most people avoid the fundamentals because they don't have the guts to become great at them. When you eliminate everything that is unnecessary, you're left with just the basics and whether or not you have mastered them" - James Clear, Author of 'Atomic Habits'
This is in the context of my work as a copywriter but is applicable across all walks of life.
For me, my primary tasks that move the needle are:
Getting better at writing copy.
Outreach
I realised that they are the biggest needle movers so I made sure that they get done every day since Wednesday and lo and behold...
Closed a big client last night. Buzzing.
But the problem with the simple things is that we often overlook them because they seem too easy so surely they can't yield crazy results?
But they do.
Imagine you are a university student and you have an essay due.
You can plan it, get all your notes together and text everyone about it but realistically, you just need to write the damn thing.
Simple, not easy.
We fell into this trap with the podcast. We thought we could start doing IRL content and collaborations and fancy trailers but then decided on just getting consistent with posting one episode per week.
Simple.
Get consistent with the simple things and you'll just start to cruise towards whatever it is you are aiming for.
Don't overcomplicate it.
Progress With Us Podcast
As I mentioned earlier, we dropped Episode 9 with Lee yesterday and I know I keep saying this every week but...
It might be the best podcast we have done so far.
We love interviewing young and ambitious people like ourselves but having someone with as much knowledge and experience as Lee makes for a great watch.
It was also a great moment for me because Lee has been behind the scenes helping us with the podcast and helping me with my chaotic consciousness for a while now, so it was a pleasure to finally have him on.
You can find the full episode on YouTube & Spotify
Lessons From This Week
You don't need motivation, you need culture.
Motivation comes and goes but what creates real, lasting change is building something into your culture. It must become part of your identity.
Be, Do, Become
People become champions long before they get a belt wrapped around their waist. You need to be that person and do what that person does long before you become them.
What makes a good mentor?
A great mentor will come and show you the person you can become. They should see more potential in you than you see in yourself. Then, they should show you how to go out there and achieve it.
Thanks for reading guys,
