We had an absolutely brilliant conversation with Olly Plastow last week on Progress With Us and I really enjoyed hearing his position on some of the topics we spoke about.
Without blowing too much smoke up his arse, Olly is probably one of the most successful business owners we have had on the show so far.
I wasn't sure whether he was going to turn up acting like a big corporate director and in reality, it was quite the opposite.
There were many lessons I took away from doing that episode but I'll expand upon one of them.
There is so much god damn noise on the internet at the moment and to some extent, you could probably include us in the bracket of people making it.
Everyone has a personal brand and everyone feels the need to share THEIR opinions and almost force on others what worked for them.
And while there is a lot of information that is useful on the internet, there is a LOT of noise too.
Olly has managed to scale Consensus Workspace to £12,000,000 annual revenue, while still...
Having a pint or two on the weekend
Without doing content
Not waking up at 5:30 to do an ice bath
Without going on a carnivore diet for optimal focus
And all the rest...
Now, that doesn't invalidate those practices as tools to help you succeed.
It just means that Olly has found a routine, schedule and lifestyle that works for him and that he can keep in balance.
And here is where the lesson lies.
YOU NEED TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WORKS FOR YOU.
If you cut out all the bs online and take some time to evaluate...
What do you want out of life?
What is required to have that?
And you take action on it with consistency...
You'll get there.
For some people, that is going sober and doing an ice bath at 5:30 in the morning every day.
And for others, it's having a few pints on the weekend and just making sure the work is done.
Everyone is different and everyone has different goals and aspirations, so it's important for you to figure out what it is that you want and structuring your lifestyle around that.
Cut out the noise.
Lessons From The Week
Re-Evaluate Old Learnings
Last week, I went back and reviewed all the work I've done with my mentor over the past 10 months and I realised that I had slipped off a bit with some of the practises that have really helped me in the past.
Sometimes, it's important to go back over the good stuff rather than constantly taking in new information.
Thanks for reading guys,
