You get the gist.
Shit. I haven’t got a template to follow today. I guess I will have to get creative. I am going to write on this everyday for the next twenty one days straight. The reason for 21 days is because of a book I am reading called ‘the monk who sold his ferrari’.
In the book, ancient sages full of wisdom advise you do something for 21 days before you judge it. We are on day two and I am going to try and get as much of the basics across as possible.
19 years condensed into a section
So, my name is Charles Patrick McCormack and I am 19 as of writing this, living in Sheffield, UK. I had a lovely growing up, always went to great schools and always had great friends. I felt destined all my life to walk the traditional path, go to uni like my family all had and get a good job because I was somewhat ‘clever’.
A year ago, I begun to doubt whether this was what I wanted to do and went 1 foot in and 1 foot out and did an Open University degree in Economics. I didn’t like it. Officially, I am on a gap year but I don’t see myself ever going to university again.
Well, what instead?
Good question. Usually when people don’t go to uni, they go into an apprenticeship, degree or normal, or get a job. I haven’t chosen any of those options and rather than doing what everyone does on their gap year (work 2 jobs and travel), I want to build and grow.
Sounds cringe, I get it. Hear me out.
So, I have decided to invest in myself in whatever shape or form that takes. I have invested in mindset mentorship with the brilliant Lee Duncan, as well as mentorship in some other areas such as business and digital skills. I just want to take this year to learn and invest into myself.
If it all goes wrong, university isn’t going anywhere.
What I am going to write about?
Good question. Well, I am currently fascinated with the topic of psychology through what I have been working on with my mentor and the books I have been reading. I have also been really captured by the philosophy of Stoicism. I am a month and 5 days into reading ‘The Daily Stoic’ by Ryan Holiday. I have loved every single bit of it.
So, psychology and philosophy from the perspective of a teenager. Fitness, health and business will be in there too.
Please note, anything I write about the latter three topics will be simply what I have learned from others. If you are looking to get fitter, healthier or start a business there is an abundance of information out there about all of that!
That is about it really.
I am going to expand upon everything I spoke about in due course. I am really enjoying doing this already, hah!
Anyway, I will see you tomorrow BUT ONLY IF YOU SUBSCRIBE.
