WARNING: THIS MAY BE ONE OF THE BEST NEWSLETTERS I HAVE EVER WRITTEN. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK. ANY MONEY MADE USING THESE TECHNIQUES REQUIRES YOU TO SEND ME A REPLY TO THIS EMAIL SO I CAN COLLECT MY ROYALTIES. There are some classic webinar memes that everyone loves to have a good crack about...
... but one of my favourites is the classic "dRoP a 1 iN tHe ChAt iF {xyz}!" The reason we ask for commitment and ask for interaction during our webinar is simple. It has great benefits! ✅ It's great for social proof... ✅ It creates herd mentality... ✅ It gives YOU energy as a presenter... ✅ It creates GREAT momentum... ... and overall, it's just a spectacular sight to see when the chat is flying with comments. Interaction is SO important on a webinar, and you notice this a lot when you use WebinarJam over Zoom (because of the delay). But I'm not here to talk to you about software today. I'm here to answer the following question... Why is it that on some webinars, for some people, they fill the chat with 'YESSES' and '1' like it's nobody's business... but on other webinars, they are sat awkwardly waiting for people to respond? I know why, and that's what I want to share with you today, because NO ONE... trust me... NO ONE wants to get aired on a webinar. You'd probably rather get aired in-person than online on a webinar. This is also the same reason some people just get a WAY higher booking rate on webinars than others. It's also why some people just seem to effortlessly work the crowd on a webinar with no real presenting skills. They have mastered what I am going to show you. So, the reason an audience on a webinar will come flying out of the chat (and it will look like the crowd are alive, and you're going to make loads of money) isn't to do with the fact that you ask them a question... It's to do with the fact that you've confirmed their biases. Too many people on their webinars use the interactive sections as a get-out-of-jail-free card to make up for their poor attempts to keep the audience engaged. But asking for interaction in the chat is like waking somebody up if they're falling asleep during the film. You don't want them to fall asleep in the first place. You want them to be awake with their eyes peeled to the screen. The tool that we use to do this is called 'Confirmation Bias'. You've probably heard of it before, and this is just one of the many tools that we use that live inside of Webinar Wizards Advisory. When you ask people to interact with you in the chat, you are GETTING confirmation that they are on side with what YOU are saying. You don't want to GET confirmation... ... you want to GIVE confirmation. For example, let me show you two pieces of somebody 'giving' me confirmation over the past four years that have worked on me, that have gotten me to take action and pay people money. Example #1: "Selling Done-For-You Is A Bad Business Model, The Clients Don't Get Results, And You Are A Slave To Your Business." Example #2: "The Reason Stretching Doesn't Work Is Because It Only Temporarily Fixes The Problem. You Need Strength-Through-Length." One of these got me to exchange $10,000 dollars, the other got me to exchange $27... but both got me to buy. Why? BECAUSE THEY CONFIRMED THINGS I WAS ALREADY THINKING, BUT WASN'T BRAVE ENOUGH TO SAY. This might sound simple, but if you were already doing this to a high enough standard, you probably wouldn't still be reading this email, so watch closely. You want to make statements, make claims, and confirm biases that force the audience to go...
THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED YOUR AUDIENCE TO BE SAYING. This is what their inner dialogue should sound like as you work your way through your keynote. But how do you discover WHAT TO SAY in order to invoke this response? Well, sit down or go for a walk with your wispr flow turned on and answer these questions for me:
Because when you introduce these concepts into your webinar and you can confirm biases... And when you ask for commitment... ... the chat is going to explode. The floodgates are going to open, and that is when people are actually going to be hooked, not falling asleep in the cinema anymore, but having their eyes glued to the screen. Imagine the kind of prospects you would have on a sales call afterwards if you've already confirmed every single bias that they had, both the positive ones and the negative ones. The goal of this email was simple: I want you to confirm the biases. I want you to stop asking for commitment and start giving confirmation. Confirm to them that they are on the right track and they are just a small decision away from materialising whatever desire it is that you help bridge the gap between. This is a tool that is powerful beyond measure and has been used by every single person that you've ever bought something from and all the biggest marketers in the industry to make millions for themselves in take-home profit. None of them will ever tell you how they did it, but this is a huge part of it. Go and do that exercise, implement it inside your copy next time, and watch your interaction and, hopefully as a result, your conversion skyrocket. If you want us to do this for you, or with you... you know where to find us ;) Enjoy the rest of your week. May it be fruitful, full of growth and full of action.
